Jenn Brathovde, Director of Advising & Retention

Jenn holds a BA in Family and Consumer Studies and a BA in Elementary Education from Central Washington University. She is happy to help any Big Bend students with advising questions.
Fun facts: Jenn has three kids and cats, a turtle, loves to read, and has been teaching yoga for 15 years.

Alissa Scriven, Retention Coordinator

Alissa holds an AA-DTA General Studies from Spokane Falls Community College, a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies-Social Sciences and a MEd-Higher Education from Central Washington University. Her areas of expertise include: advising and navigating the transfer process.
Fun Facts: Alissa loves to thrift shop, stay updated on current events, make new memories with her family and snuggle with her cat.

Sarah Williams, Retention Coordinator

Sarah holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Central Washington University. Her area of expertise is college access.

Jason Hopkins, Academic Advisor

Jason earned an AA in General Studies from Cochise College and a BA in Religion from Lipscomb University. He can help Big Bend students with advising, communication and leadership skills.
Fun Facts: Jason is also the head men’s basketball coach at Big Bend. He played professionally and holds the record for kicking the most people out of a WSU football game.

Kimberly Barreras, Academic Advisor

Kimberly holds a BA in Psychology from Eastern Washington University. She is a first-generation college graduate and speaks Spanish. Her areas of expertise include advising for Running Start students and mentoring.
Fun Facts: Kimberly has an adorable dog Canela. She enjoys thrifting, going on walks, listening to podcasts and spending time with friends and family.

Alan Park, Academic Advisor

Alan kicked off his academic journey at Big Bend Community College and leveled up with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Marketing) and a minor in Communication Studies from Eastern Washington University. His area of expertise is advising for Running Start students.
Fun Facts: Alan is all about new experiences, whether it’s hiking a new trail, hopping on a plane to somewhere unfamiliar, or taste-testing the spiciest dish on the menu. He is also a fan of game nights, digital or tabletop, and loves kicking back with friends for some friendly competition and laughs.
