Total Credits Required: 90
The purpose of the AS-T degree is to allow the student who plans to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in biology the opportunity to make substantial progress toward fulfilling major requirements while completing at least half of the liberal arts, or general requirements. Completing the AS-T degree will prepare students for upper division study; it does not guarantee students admission to the major. The college recommends that the student identify one or two potential transfer schools and then contact qualified program advisors at those institutions as early as possible to obtain specific, course-by-course advice.

- Cumulative GPA must be 2.0 or higher
- Meet with your advisor each quarter to make sure you are on track!
- Instead of PEH 178 or100 you can take 3, 1-credit PEH activity courses.
- The Gen Chem and Majors Biology series each
start in the fall and stretch through the spring - Courses Recommended for WA State Schools
- CWU: MATH&141, 142, 151, PHYS&114, 115, 116
- WSU: PHYS&114, 115, 116
- EWU: MATH&151, 146, PHYS&114, 115, 116
The 2-year pathway starts Fall quarter. While courses may be started any quarter, this will extend time to degree completion.
This program can be completed on campus or hybrid. Courses are offered on-campus, online, or hybrid (part on-campus, part online).
90 Credits = 6 Quarters* if you take 15 credits each quarter
*Your specific route may take longer than 6 quarters depending on the number of credits you take each quarter and where you start in your math and English pathways.
A degree in biological sciences opens the door to a wide variety of choices— from the health sciences to environmental technology, from biomedical research to wildlife biology. (The range of possibilities is limited only by a student’s own interests, aptitudes, and imagination! The biology program provides courses to meet a variety of student needs.)
Successful completion of the AS-T Track 1 degree prepares students for additional education opportunities including a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (such as Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Genetics, Marine Biology), Environmental Science, or a related field at a four-year college or university. It also prepares students for the continuation of preparation for professional programs such as pre-medicine, pre-dental, pre-veterinarian, prepharmacy, physical therapy.
